Think about what might happen if there is some kind of contamination in a tomato paste bag or other step in the manufacturing chain. How it differs from a defect appearing in a product in a discrete manufacturing process?
Notice how much plastic is used in the different steps of the process and take into account Heinz produces around 1.8 million bottles a day. Some weeks ago, Heinz announced that they are working to develop a paper ketchup bottle. Heinz goals are to make all their packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025.
