According to the UN, about 2.78 million workers die each year from occupational accidents and work-related diseases. Also, 374 million workers suffer from non-fatal occupational accidents.
The safety rules in the video help avoiding accidents, but they may not be enough. How should you proceed in the event that an accident happens? First of all tend to the worker and call for help, then report the accident. Depending on the accident type choose accordingly first aid measures while qualified medical personnel doesn’t arrive to the scene. After first measures are taken, be sure to investigate what caused the accident and review your safety guidelines. Finally, assist the injured worker with any further things after the accident such as claims or compensations.
Industry 4.0 brings new opportunities to decrease occupational accidents through the use of technology such as collaborative robots (cobots), exoskeletons, well-being monitoring of workers, detection of lack of protective equipment through video analytics or detection of hazardous conditions through smart sensors, among others.
