Time for Insights
The LEGO Group has always been quite an innovative company, specially designing new pieces and kits, but also regarding technology. In the age of digital transformation, LEGO has recently opened a new digital office in Copenhagen in order to search for new ways to play, shop and do business through digital means.
Is there any kind of relationship between Lego and Lean? Of course there is! For many years, Lego has been used in Lean trainings and workshops with the Lego Serious Play methodology.
Lego moulds tolerances are about 0.002mm (some sources even say that 0.001mm!!), that’s why every manufactured Lego piece from the 50s until today can perfectly connect. The manufacturing error rate is about 18 defects per 1 million pieces. Considering a single Lego brick as an opportunity, this is really close to the Six Sigma quality, where only 3.4 errors per 1 million opportunities are allowed. We’ll see more about this in the future.
